Exchange

Creating exchange opportunities for artists and organizers of children's and youth theater is an important aspect of the festival. Two events invite theater makers and other interested parties - not only from the field of children's and youth theater - to exchange ideas on the topics of "Creating Access" and "Sustainability as an Aesthetic Concept". Both events will be held in German and interpreted into German sign language.

Internationality and Accessibility in the Performing Arts for Young Audiences

Open Roundtable and Networking Meeting

November 16, 10:00-14:00 – DOCK11 (Kastanienallee 79, 10435 Berlin)

Performing arts for the very young (ages 0-6), which often work with little or no spoken language, hold great potential for creating access to theater beyond the barriers of age or social or cultural background. In addition to dispensing with language, the field also offers shows as so-called "relaxed performances." In the framework of this year's festival “Berliner Schaufenster”, international artists are sharing their experience with inclusive formats with interested artists and producers.

We would also like to open a room to share and discuss: What are the experiences of international artists who want to gain a foothold in the Berlin arts scene for young audiences? What is the situation with accessibility to funding, admission into established institutions and conditions for autonomous artistic work?

All those involved in dance and theater for young audiences are invited to an open round of talks and networking. The exchange will take place after a presentation of LUFT, a dance performance by Nir de Volff and Theater o.N.

Some of the discussion participants are Robin Leveroos (interdisciplinary artist, Macromatter), Mouafak Aldoabl (dancer, performer in "LUFT" among other projects), with moderation by Dagmar Domrös (artistic co-director of Theater o.N., dramaturg)

Presented by: PAP Performing Arts Programme Berlin and Theater o.N.

Let's talk about... Access

October 7, 4:30-6:00 p.m. - FELD Theater for Young Audiences.

How can theaters create access for people with disabilities and impairments? How can working on access expand the arts, performance practice, as well as performance attendance? The production OHREN SEHEN by Lea Moro on the same day at 3 p.m. offers those interested an introduction into the topic. The event will conclude with a get-together in conversation on the café terrace.

Puppets for Future: sustainability and young audiences

October 23, 16:00-17:30 - Schaubude Berlin

"Puppets for Future" regularly invites to networking and exchange around the topic of sustainability. In the context of the Berliner Schaufenster, the event focuses on the question of how sustainability can be addressed on stage in children's theater. Artists are invited to share and discuss their aesthetic approaches and ideas. What experiences have theater makers had in contact with young audiences, and what challenges and opportunities have arisen?
